Re: 4A band discussion
I don't really know much about Granada Hills. I know that they've come a long way into Championships score-wise. South Hills seems like the closest contenders for gold...but Hart's been taking it for many years now.
As for Valencia, they could probably take 3rd of 4th. In the most recent show, I noticed Redlands jumped to an 87 in the last show. It may be due to the canceling of visual scores because of the rain. I don't know.
Los Altos has been getting last for the past 3 years...however, this year, it seems as if they could probably make a statement here and there. Maybe even top out John North.
Im sorry i haven't really heard much from the other bands below Los altos...But this is my opinion so far.

How much will Redlands score be affected by possibly missing 2 Members?

BAKERSFIELD - Two Redlands East valley students were injured in a hit-and-run accident in a crosswalk near their hotel.
The two students - a 15-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl - were members of the school's marching band. The band was in Bakersfield over the weekend to compete in a tournament.
The students were staying in a hotel in the 3500 block of Rosedale Highway. The two were walking in a crosswalk about 2:40 a.m. Sunday near the hotel when they were struck by a black compact vehicle traveling west on Rosedale Highway, said Bakersfield police Sgt. Mary DeGeare.
The students sustained "moderate" injuries and were taken to Kern Medical Center for treatment.
The vehicle made no attempt to stop and was last seen heading west on Rosedale Highway, according to a news release issued by DeGeare.
The students were leaving a pizza place with a large group of other Redlands East Valley marching band members when they were hit, according to the news release.
Witnesses described the vehicle as as a black compact with possible damage to the windshield and a missing driver's side mirror.
Redlands East Valley Principal John Maloney said the other members of the marching band and their families are standing behind the victims.
"This is a very tight group," he said. "They are very tight with each other, and they have a great support system behind them."

Re: 4A band discussion

I'm sorry to hear that about Redlands...
To answer your question, 2 holes in band is an annoyance as a member. But it shouldn't affect their scores that much.
As long as the rest of the members show off their skills so much that the judges HAVE to ignore the holes.

It's not about the instrument. It's about the player.

Actually only marching with one whole...it should still be a really good run because the whole band is as determined to stay strong and keep going.
GO WILDCATS!!!!!
