I almost never do this, but here goes...

1A - Pacifica
2A - Patriot
3A - Ranho Cucamonga (upset special!)
4A - Chino Hills
5A - Ayala

I don't know much about the "out of area" bands...

Good luck everyone!

I'll believe that when I see it.

That whole show has some pretty interesting competition though. It'll be interesting to see how everything pans out...

Definitely agree with the above. I believe in the past few years the winner of AAAA at RCC typically went on to win the AAAA crown at championships. Between them, El Diamante and Trabuco Hills have won the last 3 AAAA championships. This year however Granite Bay and Oak Grove from Northern California are also definite contenders for the AAAA crown. Granite Bay, Oak Grove, and El Diamante will meet at the James Logan show next weekend. RCC and the James Logan show will be very telling as to which AAAA band will likely end up as the top dog at Santa Barbara.

Oak Grove did beat El Diamante by .10 last week at the Sierra Cup Classic. With all of the "controversy" in 5A, there's a lot of attention being paid to 4A, and rightfully so. There are a lot of great bands in 4A and I hope to see, someday, a 4A band win Sunday's Championship title. :)

Good eye Mark...as a 5A band director I was unaware of any controversy in our class.

Yes, that's why I put controversy in quotes. The reference is to the never ending quest for someone, anyone, to outscore Logan, and all the excuses why no one can beat Logan... political connections, too many on the field, too much acrobatics, Mars being aligned with the moon, etc. You must have heard/seen the complaining. :) It seems everyone is rooting for a new champion and when it doesn't happen, it's a "controversy."

I see that on the BOA forums to.

Reality: Avon HS, IN and James Logan are both really, really good bands. That's all.

The truth is often boring, so people feel the need to add a little spice. :)
