It should be noted that West Ranch also won Percussion and Auxiliary Sweepstakes.

i still don't get how lots of bands got a lower score in this competition. There were a few that went up but not by much, but lots of school went down as much as 7 points from their last competition.

This comment is only accurate if you assume that all the bands improved over a week or two. Plus the cold air was playing havoc on the pitch of many groups.

It's called "At the Stroke of Midnight". It's pretty awesome.

I think it isn't so much that you assume everyone gets better, but to see some of the groups who do regularly improve drop down by margins of 5 or 6 or more points is quite curious. Sometimes you get a really tough panel, sometimes the stadium messes with your sound, sometimes the super high stadium at College of the Canyons is unforgiving visually...who knows.

But that is the nature of the beast in the game we play. Judging is subjective in music and what one may see as being a mid box 3 performance another might see as a high box 2 (since 2 is now lower than 3...still getting use to that change).

I just noticed that in a field of ~30 bands, no bands scored between 70 and 80. I just thought that was interesting.
