Nice topic. Would anyone like to make an attempt on the California Medal Count for BOA (in AAAA, AAA, AA, A). I'm curious. It should be a battle between Etiwanda, Upland, and Ayala, right?

Doing a class count for BOA Regionals would be a little pointless since 90% of the CA bands are in the top class (and the classifications have shifted over the years). Also, BOA Regionals are prelims/finals.

SO, based on BOA Regionals FINALS...

This is based off recaps on BOA's site, which go back to 1985. Let us not forget that Live Oak HS from Morgan Hill won BOA National Championships in 1976 (the very first BOA National Championship!) and 1978, and won BOA Class Championship in 1977.

You're right. Class Champion and Regional Champion are two different titles. I believe this happened just last year. Clovis West didn't win in prelims but takes first in finals (I could be wrong). In that case do two school medal? If you win prelims and finals, you medal once?

Sadly, Westlake "bronzed" the year before they actually starting giving out medals...

Someone should research the other associations and compile the data.

Medals were not given to the Top 3 until the 2005 season.
