SoCal Rain Cancellations

Post by 12tonerow » Sat Nov 12, 2011 7:29 am

I haven't seen any news about VIFT being cancelled, but the rain is pretty heavy here in San Diego city limits.

Does anyone have any news on the VIFT or The PBF Band Review?

I received the following from the Vista Head Judge a few minutes ago.

"An early exit at Vista High School tonight. The rain held off until the start of the afternoon 2A class, and then it just kept coming in ever increasing intensity. Everyone who made the drive to Vista performed. Three schools decided not to come; San Ysidro, Hoover and Southwest. The decision was made not to call the student leadership to the field or bands out of the busses for the award ceremony. Perusal was held in the directors' hospitality tent and awards were collected by the directors. During the dinner break the decision was made to cancel the evening show. Many schools had already decided not to make the trip in the rain.

Mission Hills HS did come onto the field, in uniform, in a constant downpour, after the event was called off to do a performance for a few of their parents. Graciously, the Vista kids and parents came out to sit in the stands and provide them with an audience. It will take quite a while for all of them to dry out."

Ironic: it hasn't been raining for about two hours now.
