Drum Major Prep Clinic (DMSC, Free)

Post by dmcoach » Wed Nov 13, 2019 4:51 pm

Drum Majors of Southern California and the Foothill High School Knights Band have partnered up to host a free special event for all drum majors from K-12.

All high school and junior high drum majors currently competing in parades, band reviews and/or planning to compete in the 2020 DMSC season are invited to come out to Foothill HS in Santa Ana on Sunday, November 17th, 2019 from 9am to 1pm to get some final preparation runs in before the Arcadia band review, the holiday parade season and/or a head start on the 2020 DMSC season!

You do not have to be the official drum major for your school. If you are a student looking to improve on your skills, an aspiring band member that would like to train to be a drum major, or even if you're looking to prep for your DM auditions, then this clinic is also for you.

Drum Majors of Southern California (DMSC) will be providing vetted instructors to help with everyone who participate. We will have a competition area that complies with the measurements of your upcoming band reviews. Our sound system will be set up, and participants are welcome to bring a copy of their march to perform with (optional). Be sure to bring your whistles, and your military/ mace baton.

This is a free event but we do need to know if you are coming, so please fill out the form by following the link below and let us know you will be attending. Once you're on the sign-up page, please make sure to click on the large button to print out the "Participation Release Form". The form is required for every participating student, and parents/ legal guardians are asked to sign it for the student.

Feel free to bring your uniforms to practice and train in (optional). We do encourage you to wear you band travel outfit (band shirt, polo, etc). This event is also a fundraiser for the Foothill Knights Band, and we would like to ask for your support by bringing a small amount of snack money with you for their concession stand. This helps cover the cost of the event and allow future events like this one to continue to be free!

Please spread the word. Our goal is to help the current generation of drum majors prepare, and to give them the extra confidence boost to better lead their programs to success.
