Hello everybody, I was curious as to whom of you all remembers 1988 DCI finals.
I’m doing a report on it and any and all information from placement to wierd happenings, the after party, hypes what you had to eat that night would be wonderful, corp performances, mishaps, specail treats, up to the process of getting a corp to finals. Anything at all. I am supposed to write several different papers on them, each a different genre. So any and all information regarding 1988 DCI finals would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Couple of tidbits to note. Blue Devils were undefeated going into Finals week. Blue Devils also work black and gray that year. Madison Scouts toured Europe that Summer.

1988 was the year after I aged out after a three-year run with VK. It was a very very bittersweet moment to sit in the stands with a bunch of band directors from southern California and see VK performing an INCREDIBLE show and not be down there directing it. That year, the VK guard was absolutely incredible as well, and I remember going to go see them in the parking lot afterwards and how the guard was very upset because they got dumped that year. Sort of sad--lots of tears that year.
Also, you may want to notate in whatever "report" you're doing that not only did they not announce the results, but they did a random draw for finals. Personally, I liked the idea, but I was part of the .000000003% of people that actually did like it. DCI quickly abandoned that idea.

that's because you didn't have to perform 1st because of it.Ryan H. Turner wrote:1988 was the year after I aged out after a three-year run with VK. But I don't think I've ever seen the stands so full for a corps 1st on.
