would anyone who didn't march really buy a ring? Seriously, no right? I mean, the whole deal is to earn one isn't it? I must admit they look pretty spiffy. My '94 ring is UGLY compared to this thing. And I love the black stone.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe it's not identical to the members ring???
They didn't "do" rings back in the day (73 and 74) but a group of alums got together a few years back and placed an order. I thought then about buying one for each year but two just seemd silly. I ended up changing my mind about buying even one because I just couldn't figure out what I'd really do with it NOW ya' know. It would have been cool to have at the time though.
Anyway ... I agree this is a good looking ring

Correct. These commemorative rings are for the Phans. The marching members rings are different.
I get the feeling this product was created knowing that many PR FMMs would buy it just because they've been waiting so long.
