Re: Some historic videos
Thank you for that Wil. I'm still crying about Valley View's demise. You made my day.

Re: Some historic videos
Valley View was amazing. Their 99 "Stormworks" show is my favorite of theirs. Here is some 1994 and 1995 Clovis West HS:

I actually competed against that show the very next weekend at the Lodi Grape Bowl classic.Wildabeast wrote:Homestead 1993
1993 was a good year for field shows. Homestead did "Phantom of the Opera" and even got that big covering from SCV that the whole band hid under. Mtn. View did "Jesus Christ Superstar", IIRC, and had those chest-mounted flash bulb thingies. And of course, Leigh did "Jurassic Park" thanks to the genius of Richard Alipaz. That was the summer it had come out, and it was so huge in the theaters. Leigh had those palm trees that "shook" at the start of their show, and just a killer, killer show.
Ah, memories.

Thanks for the '89 Etiwanda link. One of the drum majors that year was Gail Merideth, a woman I taught for @ Katella HS in the early 2000's. It's fun watching band directors when they were pups!

Tell me about it. When I saw them at WSMBC Championships, I was pleasantly surprised. They were quite good that night.fieldshowqueen wrote:Thank you for that Wil. I'm still crying about Valley View's demise. You made my day.

I *think* '93 was John Burn's 3rd year at Homestead? That program has come a loooooooong way. John is a SCV alum as well, '85 i think.Hostrauser wrote:I actually competed against that show the very next weekend at the Lodi Grape Bowl classic.Wildabeast wrote:Homestead 1993

Yep. Because I still have the 1991 Foothill Band Review program which says "Homestead's new director is their former 1983-1984 drum major."Wildabeast wrote:I *think* '93 was John Burn's 3rd year at Homestead? That program has come a loooooooong way. John is a SCV alum as well, '85 i think.
Valley View Crimson Demise
Can I ask what happened? I seriously don't know where Valley View HS Crimson Regiment went?fieldshowqueen wrote:I'm still crying about Valley View's demise.

Re: Some historic videos
If anyone is interested, I came across a few Merced High videos of both parade & field from the mid - late 80's:

Pretty interesting. I've always wanted to see what the MM100 used to be like, but I've never really seen any videos of them, except for maybe once in middle school.

Are there any videos from Arcadia or All Western from the 1970"s?? THAT would be an amazing Geekfest! I would LOVE to see them.

It's sort of explained there ... a lot has happened since that thread and not all, obviously, positive.dudewheresmycar wrote:It's all explained here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8536&start=0&st=0&s ... alley+viewMIDPRONIUM wrote:Can I ask what happened?
