Hmm... Three I know right off the top of my head. I'll have to think about the fourth.

Karl King lasted until 1971.

Classical's that way, too. Stravinsky didn't die until 1971, Shostakovich didn't die until 1975, and Copland lasted until 1990.

Okay, figured out the fourth. I'll let some others guess before posting the answers.

A fifth (Mayhew Lester Lake) just missed "the cut" (he died in 1955). :lol:

Ahh...make that FIVE then....I forgot about JJR, you forgot about JNK. But of course, HLB, JHF, and EFG would be the most famous.

I did forget about JNK. Then again, most of his marches are... well, JNK. :lol: He only wrote two that I've found even remotely decent.

No one's asked/guessed, but we're talking about...

JNK = John Nicholas Klohr
JJR = Joseph John Richards

All died in 1956.

(* Blankenburg was born with the middle name Louis, later changed it to Ludwig in honor of Beethoven.)

:bow:

The 13 marches added "filled in the blanks" so to speak: each of my Top 100 should be in the march library now. The newest baker's dozen are...

101. Leib-Guard Grodno Hussar Regiment's March (Alexei Karabanov)
91. Le Pere de la Victoire {"Father of Victory"} (Gustave L. Ganne)
90. Der Geist der Einigkeit {"The Spirit of Unity"} (Hermann L. Blankenburg)
89. North Star (William Rimmer)
87. Masterstroke (W. Paris Chambers)
83. Soldiers First (Edward H. Keeley)
74. Up the Street (Robert G. Morse)
67. Abscheid der Gladiatoren {"The Gladiator's Farewell"} (Hermann L. Blankenburg)
64. Le Belliqueux {"The Belligerents"} (Gabriel Allier)
63. Das Abzeichen {"Our Banner"} (Stefan Marinoff)
37. Captain Draper's March (David W. Reeves)
14. Deutschland Fliegt! {"Germany Flies!"} (Ernst Stieberitz)
2. Meinen Congratuloren {"My Congratulations"} (Hermann L. Blankenburg)
