Vicki Wyant hasn't been with Redwood since 2009. Their band director is a Redwood graduate, though!

Wow, Armijo had a higher subtotal than Golden Valley, but inspection cost them Parade Sweeps.

Congrats to Las Plumas/Oroville for not just winning Music Sweeps, but for winning Music Sweeps by almost 10 points! That's impressive considering the caliber of bands at the review.

Santa Cruz Top 10 Music Scores
481.0 Las Plumas/Oroville
471.5 Armijo
468.5 Golden Valley
467.5 San Benito
465.0 Merced
463.5 Concord
459.5 Vanden
457.0 Cesar Chavez
448.0 Vallejo
447.5 Atwater

I had not noticed this. I wonder what 3 infractions cost Armijo overall Sweepstakes.

Interesting. I think I know why, but I'd like to hear Mr. Stratton explain how he came to the decision of having the flutes (and a few other WW?) peel out of the middle of the block and head to the back just after the judges stand. 8-)

Balance in the 1st and last strain. When you have more tubas than flutes and more trombones than saxs, you have to make some adjustments....did it last year too.

NCBA should eliminate inspection. No one should lose a sweeps based on pant lengths. This happened to GV one time a few years ago too.
Just my opinion.

About 12 years I made a motion to have inspection removed. My argument was that it did not reflect our educational goals and was something that only penalized students. I also argued that there were many bands without the means to maintain uniforms at a high level.

It was mentioned by the chair of the meeting that it was good to keep in place because it gave the boosters something to do and we should have pride in the way we look.

My motioned died for a lack of a second.

That was the first and last NCBA meeting I attended. It seemed at then that there was more concern about maintaining status quo then there was elevating the educational experience for the students.

Pretty much what I expected. Huge low brass section at LPO this year, upper woodwinds would have just disappeared if they were behind all that brass before the judges stand or remained in front of it after the stand.
