Major Forum Upgrade is Complete!!!

After the server crash a couple weeks ago I have noticed that a few things on the forum aren't working the way should. Turns out that this older version of the forum software is not totally compatible with the newer operating system on my new server. So I will be doing a software upgrade to the forum this weekend and that means the forum will be off-line for a period of time. If all goes smoothly the forum should only be down a few hours, if not, then it could be off-line for a day or so. The forum will look a lot different when it's done as the new forum software is not compatible with style theme I created years ago. I will have to design a new theme after the upgrade. Hopefully by this fall I will get thing back to normal in time for the marching band season. Stay tuned.....

Unfortunately the upgrade of the forum has been delayed for a few days because of other more pressing issues I have to fix that arose from the server crash. The new versions of PHP and MySQL running on the new server have caused many issues with some of my older websites. Since this forum still works, it is not at the top of my list of things to fix. I have people with business websites that need my attention first. I hope to get the upgrade done sometime in the next week.

I updated the phpBB forum software to the latest, greatest version 3.2.2 last night. Which means I had to disable the WOP design theme and will have to design a new theme as we go for the forum. So PLEASE be patient as I experiment and add features and graphics back to the forum over the next few weeks. Thank you!

I discovered a major problem with the forums registration form and how the forum sends out emails caused by the upgrade I did a while back. Plus over 2000 spam accounts had been attempted to be setup. These spammers apparently have a lot time on their hands and have nothing better to do. So I have changed the verification method on the registration form to a question that all good marching geeks should be able to answer, but that spammers will scratch their heads about.

So, if you had tried to set up an account since August 30th and failed, all those attempts have been deleted and those usernames and email addresses are now available to use again. So PLEASE, set up your new account again so you can join in the fun!!!
