I just got back from the Mt. Carmel Tournament and saw a bunch of great performances.

This first one wasn't the "best" or highest scoring, but it was a wonderful performance from what used to be a tiny band: Garey from Pomona. Holy crap, great, confident opening, good dynamics, nice intonation (where quite a few other bands struggled here or there), very good drum major, and if I wasn't so distracted by the music I might have made a note on marching. They made Bravura sounding exciting and fresh. Just excellent. I've always thought they play big and with confidence and they didn't disappoint. Nice work guys!

The other band won the field tournament. I'm terribly biased toward Arcadua, having gone there and I always enjoy Mt. Carmel, street and field. But Rancho Bernardino blew me away. The musical arrangement was exciting and the performance was beautiful. It was near the end of the night, so I don't have notes, but I felt privileged to see and hear this great band perform. I'm kind of at a loss for words, but among a group of very good bands, they were in a class by themselves. Sorry for all the cliches, not sure how to describe it. The only thing I was sad about is that they stopped competing in the street, where they were one of the very best. I hope to someday see them in a band review again.

Thanks to everyone. I had a really fun day.
