I am pleased to announce that the 2009 Chino Invitational will sport a brand new artificial turf football field for this year’s event. Recent years have seen the addition of a rubberized track and the remodel/renovation of the stadium, bleachers, restrooms, food stand, etc. The addition of the artificial turf field is a long-awaited upgrade to the stadium at Chino High School.

Details for this event are as follows:

39th Annual Chino Invitational Band Review and Field Show Tournament
- Saturday, November 7, 2009
- 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM
- One-Stop Bus Parking
- Bands may enter Band Review (Parade), Field Tournament, or both competitions
- This year’s event will feature performances by the Kingsmen Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps as well as a special competitive performance by the Guam Territorial Band.
- Hosted by the Chino High School 77TH Cavalry Band and Pageantry, the SCSBOA 6A Field Competition Champions (2005-2008), as well as the 2003 and 2007 Fiesta Bowl National Band Champions. The Cavalry was honored to march in the 113th Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena in 2002 and is the 4-time winner of the Tournament of Champions. The Pageantry unit is a 7-time WGI Open Class finalist, bronze medal winner at the WGI World Championships in 2005, bronze medal winner at the WGASC in 2006, 2007, and WGASC gold medal winner in 2005 and 2008.

AM Field Show Tournament – 8:00 AM-11:15 AM, Awards at 4:00 PM
- Competition for High School Band, Auxiliary, and Percussion
- Artificial Turf
- Classes 1A, 2A, 3A
- AM Band Sweepstakes winner invited to return for exhibition performance in PM Field Tournament. If the band is also marching in the Band Review they will also receive an award in the Grand Sweepstakes (combined Band Review/Field Tournament) Competition.

Band Review (Parade) – 12:00 PM-3:30 PM, Awards at 4:30 PM
- Competition for Intermediate/Middle/Junior High/High School Band, Drill Team, Auxiliary, and Drum Major
- Short parade route
- Tournament of Roses/Show-Off Area – A separate area near the end of the parade route to perform for members of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Music Committee for possible selection in 2011 and beyond Tournament of Roses Parade. Also, an area for band members to return to see subsequent bands perform and for drum majors to accept salutes of subsequent drum majors.
- Band Review participants who will also be performing in the PM Field Tournament are eligible for Grand Sweepstakes (combined Band Review/Field Tournament) Competition.

PM Field Show Tournament – 5:30 PM-10:00 PM, Awards at 10:15 PM
- Competition for High School Band, Auxiliary, and Percussion
- Artificial Turf
- Classes 4A, 5A, 6A, Host
- PM Field Tournament participants who already competed in the afternoon Band Review are eligible for Grand Sweepstakes (combined Band Review/Field Tournament) Competition.

Grand Sweepstakes Competition
- Competition for bands competing in the Band Review and also performing in the PM Field Show Tournament
