transportation of floors

Post by RifleDiva » Fri Jan 02, 2004 8:50 pm

Hey all, winterguard season is upon us :) and now we all get the joyous experience of dealing with the floor. Haha. Anyway I was curious how do you guys get your floor to and from competitions. We’ve done different things in past years. My freshmen year we borrowed the marching trailers. But we had props then too so that was why. Last year we put in the back of one of the parents vans. Not the best idea ever cause the only way to get in was to unfold it off the cart and refold it into the vain. (Pain in the butt! :x )
This year my dad is in charge of the floor transportation and right now he's working with using his motorcycle trailer to transport it. Anyway I’m interested to know what other people do. So share your stories!

we use a dolly and roll it into the gym then pull it off and unfold it from there. The floor usually ends up in the back of someones truck or van if the trunk space is big enough. Our equipment truck was our captains, who graduated so we have to rearrange everything this year.

Last year our Guard Daddy let us use his trailor for transporting our 2 floors and our backdrops but his daughter graduated so i'm not sure what we will do this year but on the way to Championships the bungey cord holding our floor to the wall of the trailor came undone and the floor cart went flying into the door and opened it and the (cream colored) floor unfolded along the freeway. We had the best Daddy ever cause he folded it back up all by himself and brought it to us in time for the performances!

no we lift it. like the truck pulls up next to the curb and either dads or the stongest people lift it up and into the bus off the cart.

Post by RifleLova » Sun Jan 04, 2004 2:54 pm

we put it under the bus too. we put the whole thing under the bus, we dont separate the cart and the floor. we dont get dads to do it, we do it ourselves.

Usually the bus like flagrat said, but sometimes we get the ghetto bus and it doesn't fit. Then we get a nice guard mommy or daddy to take it in their van/SUV. We can't use the band truck cause drumline is usually using it on the same day.
