How does your group rehearse.....?

Post by snareguy83 » Sat Nov 23, 2013 10:38 am

So.....something I've always wondered is how some of the bigger, more successful schools (NCBA: Rodriguez, Fairfield, Foothill, SCPA: Arcadia, Ayala, Chino, SJVCGPR: the Clovis schools) have their rehearsal schedule set up. Do those schools have a percussion class during the day? Do students take lessons? Our program currently only gets 2 days after school a week for a couple of hours. Are those big successful groups just full of that much talent, or are they working multiple hours multiple days to pull it all off. What about weekends......9-9's? Sundays? I've always been kinda curious as to what's done different elsewhere...... :?:

They all have extremely strong middle school programs. That is the biggest difference. Especially in the Chino area, most middle schools march indoor drumline. So, a freshman could already have 3 seasons of indoor experience.

Ayala Marching Ensemble does two 3-4 hour rehearsals a week plus three days during winter break, Mondays of the three day weekends and preseason Saturday mornings. Depending on where the spring break falls, we will have extended rehearsals then also.

Our Concert Group does two additional rehearsals during the week (2-3 hours) and we split the holiday rehearsals.

We have a feeder program (Canyon Hills Junior High)
