What Accounting Program Do You Use To Track Student Accts?

Post by getaholdofchandler » Sat Nov 12, 2005 4:51 am

I am a Booster Board member. My duties include tracking balances of student accounts including their contributions, fundraising credits and travel fees.

We currently use Quickbooks but I am frustrated by QB's inability to import transactions from an excel spreadsheet and not being able to control which items appear on statements. ( I do like it's email feature for statements though!)

Is there anyone else out there that is using other programs to track student accounts? If so, what have you found to be the pros and cons with the other applicaitons? We are looking to make a switch.

Thanks,

Chandler

Did you happen to find an accounting program that you like?
We are in need of one too, which one did you eventually choose.

We just use the good old Microsoft Excel. Does everything I need it to do. I'm sure that the others offer far superior accounting functions, but hey, I'm not a banker, haha!
You just can't encourage stupidity

Disclaimer - I haven't used the program to organize student account.

With that being said, I love Microsoft Accounting. It integrates well with the other office applications and has a very quick learning curve.

You can get a demo version here. I would not download the demo unless you are on broadband as it is over 200 megs. ;)

Quickbooks! And they have an online version like Mark stated. It also has multiple levels of accessibility. So you can give a password to the band director and/or CPA or someone of that nature so they can just look, but not edit anything.

Windows Quickbooks is awesome. Tough to learn at first but very powerful once you do. Tried the online and it was lame. Wouldn't go back and forth between desktop version easily.
